Plain-language summary
- Lovevine is an app for couples. You record feelings, check-ins, answers, photos and preferences and share them with the person you connect with.
- Some of what you record is sensitive (for example, intimacy, religious or political values, fears). We use it only to make the app work.
- We do not sell or share your data for advertising, we do not track you across apps, and we do not use your content to train artificial intelligence.
- We do not access your location, contacts, microphone or camera. Photos only enter the app when you pick them.
- Only the person connected to you sees what you share with them. You can disconnect at any time.
- Lovevine has a free tier and paid plans (Individual and Couple). Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your card.
- You can delete specific data or your whole account in the app, in Settings > Data and Privacy.
- Lovevine is currently available only in the United States.
1. Who we are
Lovevine is provided by Jonatan Ortiz, located in Brazil ("Lovevine", "we", "us"). We decide how and why the personal data described here is processed.
Privacy contact: lovevineapp@gmail.com.
2. Scope, availability and age
This policy covers the Lovevine iOS app, the pages at lovevineapp.com (including the password reset and email verification pages) and email support.
Lovevine is currently offered only on the United States App Store. If we make it available in other countries, we will update this policy first.
Lovevine is intended for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 (and never from children under 13, as defined by COPPA). If you believe a minor created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
3. Data we collect

|---|---|---|
| Name | The name you enter when you start using the app (asked even before you create an account) | Personalize the app; it is the name your partner sees |
| Account | Email, password (stored hashed by Firebase Authentication), or your Sign in with Apple / Google identifier | Create and protect your account, recover your password |
| Profile and preferences | Profile photo, gender, relationship stage, theme, haptics, notification and tutorial preferences | Personalize the app and show your profile to your connected partner |
| Check-ins | Ratings for emotional connection, communication and support; physical contact of the day (kiss, hug, affection, intimacy); optional note | Show how your relationship evolves, to you and your partner |
| Feelings | Feeling type and message sent to your partner | Deliver the message and keep its history |
| Inner Map | Values (including religion and politics), future plans, lifestyle, hobbies, love languages, deal breakers, red flags, fears and vulnerabilities | Compare profiles and suggest conversations |
| Activities | Daily and couple questions, quiz answers and games, challenges, roulette, date ideas, special dates (including birthdays), items you create | Run the features and compute achievements, streaks and statistics |
| Photos | Couple photos and captions; your solo album before you connect (paid plans) | Build the photo album |
| Support and reports | Suggestions, complaints, profile reports (reported profile name and message) | Reply, improve the app and protect users |
3.2 Data created as you use the app
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Plan and subscription status: plan (none, Individual or Couple), product, status (active, grace period, expired, refunded), auto-renew, expiration date, scheduled plan change, store transaction identifiers, store environment | Unlock your plan and apply its limits |
| Usage counters per partner (how many check-ins, questions, quizzes, challenges, photos, etc. you have used) | Apply the limits of each plan |
| Couple plan benefit: which connection receives it | Extend your Couple plan to the partner you chose |
| Order in which you used your connections | Decide which connections stay active and which are paused when a plan ends |
| Anonymous totals of past connections (counts and active days, without the partner or any content) | Keep your streaks and achievements after you disconnect |
| Account identifier (UID) and a derived profile identifier | Link your data to your account |
| Notification token, platform and app version | Send notifications |
| Time zone | Define the "day" of each activity |
| Usage events (screens, taps, features used, counts, durations, plan limits reached, including your plan level and your partner's) | Understand how the app is used and improve it (Google Analytics for Firebase). Events do not include the content of your entries: no messages, answers, notes, photos, captions, check-in physical contact or feeling type. |
| Crash and diagnostic reports (device model, OS version, technical error trace, recent usage events) | Fix bugs (Firebase Crashlytics) |
| Installation identifier and app integrity attestation | Security and abuse prevention (Firebase Installations, App Check, Apple App Attest) |
| Server logs (technical IDs, time, operation status) | Security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention |
3.3 Data from Apple and Google
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email (or Apple's private relay email) and an account identifier. We never receive your password for those services. When you subscribe, Apple tells us the status of your subscription; Apple does not share your payment details with us.
3.4 Guest mode
You can try Lovevine without an account. While you are a guest, what you record stays on your device. When you create an account or sign in, what you recorded as a guest (name, Inner Map, quiz answers, check-ins, special dates, date ideas, roulette, challenges and preferences) is moved to your account and synced to our servers. The demo photo available without a plan never leaves your device.
3.5 Data about your partner
Some information you record relates to your partner (for example, their birthday or answers about your relationship). Please treat it with respect. Your partner can contact us about it (section 19), even without an account.
3.6 What we do not collect
We do not access location, contacts, microphone, camera, calendar, Apple Health data or the advertising identifier (IDFA). The app only reads the clipboard when you tap the button to paste a connection code.
4. Sensitive data
Information about your sex life, emotional health, religious or philosophical beliefs and political opinions, and messages meant for your partner, is sensitive personal information under California law (CPRA) and other state laws. Some of it may also be "consumer health data" under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act. In Lovevine it appears mainly in check-ins, the Inner Map, intimacy questions and quiz, and feelings.
- These fields are optional. The app works without them.
- We use them only to provide the feature you are using and to show them to you and the partner you connected with.
- We never use them for advertising, profiling, sale or AI training, and they are not sent to Google Analytics or Crashlytics.
- We collect this data with your consent, given in a separate checkbox when you create your account (see the Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account in Settings > Data and Privacy > Delete my account.
- We may compute aggregate, de-identified statistics on our own servers (for example, "38% of check-ins this week included a hug") to improve the app. These statistics never identify you and never leave our infrastructure.
5. How we use data
- Provide the service: create your account, sync your data across devices, share it with the partner you connected, run features, apply plan limits and benefits.
- Payments: unlock your plan, handle renewals, grace periods, refunds and plan changes, and meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Communicate with you: notifications you allowed (partner activity, Couple plan benefit, plan expiration) and replies to support.
- Improve and secure the app: usage statistics, crash reports, abuse and fraud prevention, photo moderation.
- Legal: comply with the law, respond to valid legal requests and protect rights and safety.
6. What your partner sees
- A connection only happens when one person generates a code and the other enters it. Codes expire after 7 days.
- You can have more than one connection. The app shows one at a time (the "main partner").
- Your connected partner sees your name and profile photo (from your account), your Inner Map and what you record in couple features with them (check-ins, feelings sent to them, answers, quiz, challenges, date ideas, photos and special dates of that connection). What you record with one connection is not shown to another.
- Records you made before having a partner (for example, check-ins, special dates, quiz answers and solo album photos) become part of your first connection and are shown to that partner.
- Because some limits are shared by the couple, your partner's app knows your plan level and how much you used of shared features (challenges, roulette, date ideas, quizzes), and may show a message such as "Name's plan limit".
- If you have the Couple plan, you choose one connection to receive its benefit. That partner is notified with your first name when you share or stop sharing it.
- Notifications tell your partner about some of your actions (for example, "Name sent you a feeling"), using your first name.
- You can disconnect at any time, without the other person. Disconnecting deletes, for both sides, what belongs to that connection (feelings, answers, check-ins, quiz games, challenges, photos, special dates, usage counters) and releases the Couple benefit. We keep only anonymous totals (see section 3.2) and an archived quiz score that does not identify the former partner.
- Disconnecting also works as blocking: the other person immediately loses access and can only connect again with a new code that you give them. Lovevine has no public profiles or search, so no one can contact you without your code.
- What the other person already saw, wrote down or captured outside the app (for example, a screenshot) is beyond our control.
7. Plans, limits and payments
- Lovevine has a free tier (with an account) and two paid subscriptions: Individual and Couple, monthly or yearly. Plan rules and limits are described in the Terms of Use and in the app.
- Subscriptions are sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your card or billing address. Apple tells us the status of the subscription so we can unlock it.
- If your plan expires, is cancelled or refunded, none of your data is deleted: the free limits apply again, connections beyond the free limit are paused and come back if you subscribe again, and solo album photos stay stored.
- We keep plan and usage data while your account exists, to apply the rules correctly if you subscribe again.
8. Service providers
We use these providers to run Lovevine. They process data on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their services to us:
| Provider | Service | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC / Google Cloud (Firebase) | Authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), server functions, photo storage, push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), App Check, web hosting | Account and app data needed to run the service |
| Google LLC (Google Analytics for Firebase) | Usage statistics | Usage events, account and installation identifiers, technical device data. No entry content. Advertising features disabled. |
| Google LLC (Firebase Crashlytics) | Crash reports | Technical crash data, account identifier, recent usage events |
| Google LLC (Cloud Vision API) | Automated photo moderation (section 9) | The uploaded image |
| Apple Inc. | App Store and in-app purchases, Sign in with Apple, push delivery (APNs), App Attest | Purchase status, Apple account identifier, notification token |
| Google LLC (Google Sign-In) | Sign in with Google | Name, email and Google account identifier |
Google acts as our processor under the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum and the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms.
We may also disclose data when required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, property or safety of users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (this policy would continue to apply).
9. Photo moderation
Each photo uploaded to an album is automatically checked by Google Cloud Vision SafeSearch before it becomes visible. Photos classified as likely adult or violent content are rejected and deleted; the rejection reason is kept for 30 days so you can understand what happened. According to Google's documentation, images sent to Vision are not used to improve Google products and are deleted after analysis. If you think a photo was rejected by mistake, contact us for a human review.
10. What we never do
- Sell your personal information, or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law.
- Use your data for targeted advertising or track you across other companies' apps and websites (we do not use the IDFA or App Tracking Transparency).
- Use your messages, answers, photos or sensitive data to train artificial intelligence models.
- Show your data to anyone you are not connected to.
- Monitor you secretly: the app has no location access, does not hide its icon and does not read other apps.
11. Where data is stored
Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States (Google Cloud region us-central1). Lovevine is operated from Brazil, so Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD) also applies to our processing.
12. How long we keep data
| Data | Period |
|---|---|
| Account, content, plan and usage data | While your account exists, until you delete the data or the account |
| Data of a connection | Until disconnection, when it is deleted for both sides; anonymous totals remain until you delete your account |
| Solo album photos | Until you delete them or your account, even if your plan expires |
| Connection codes | Deleted automatically after they expire (7 days) |
| Completed quizzes | After 1 day they become aggregate numbers (score, totals); counted IDs are kept for 30 days |
| Photos being uploaded, failed or rejected | 1 hour, 1 day and 30 days, respectively |
| Server logs | About 30 days |
| Crashlytics reports | About 90 days |
| Analytics events | 2 months |
| Backups | We keep no backups of our own; deleted data is removed from Google Cloud systems within about 6 months |
| Records required by law (for example, tax) | For the legally required period |
13. Your rights and choices
- In the app: edit your profile, delete specific data, delete your account, disconnect from a partner, manage notifications.
- On iPhone: turn notifications off in Settings > Notifications > Lovevine; manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.
- By email (lovevineapp@gmail.com): access or a copy of your data, correction, deletion, and any other request. Write from your account email; we may ask for more information to verify your identity. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
- We respond within 45 days (extendable once by 45 days where the law allows), free of charge, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; if the appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
14. Deleting data and your account
- Delete my data (Settings > Data and Privacy): deletes, per feature, your Inner Map, feelings, check-ins, quiz, questions, challenges, roulette, date ideas and photos. Shared activities your partner started may remain in their statistics.
- Delete my account: deletes your connections and their photos (including those uploaded by your partner, since the album belongs to the couple), your solo album, all your data in our database (including plan, usage and connection codes), your partner's usage counters for your connection and any Couple benefit tied to it, and your login account. If you signed in with Apple, the app asks Apple to confirm so Lovevine's access to your Apple account is revoked.
- Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions; if your subscription is set to renew, the app reminds you of this before deleting.
- No access to the app? See how to request deletion on the web.
15. Security
We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (Google Cloud); the app cannot read anyone else's data directly, because every access goes through our server, which checks your connection; app integrity checks (App Check); photo access limited to connection members; and on-device files protected by iOS encryption and excluded from iCloud backup. No system is 100% secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and authorities as required by law.
16. Notifications and on-device privacy
Notifications may show your partner's first name on the lock screen. If others can see your phone, hide previews in iPhone Settings > Notifications > Lovevine > Show Previews. Data is stored on your device so the app works offline; anyone who unlocks your device can see it. If you feel controlled or unsafe in your relationship, see our safety page.
17. US state privacy notices
California (CCPA/CPRA)
In the last 12 months we collected these categories: identifiers (name, email, account and device identifiers); customer records; characteristics of protected classifications (gender); commercial information (subscription status and history); internet or app activity (usage events); sensitive personal information (sex life, religious or philosophical beliefs, contents of messages meant for your partner, account login); and inferences only as needed to provide features (for example, compatibility within the app). Sources: you, your device, your partner (for shared content), Apple and Google. Purposes: section 5. Recipients: the service providers in section 8 and your connected partner.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing data of anyone under 16. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes permitted by the CPRA (to provide the services you request), so the "right to limit" does not require separate action; you can still delete it at any time. You have the right to know, access, correct and delete your data, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Washington, Nevada and other consumer health data laws
Data that may reveal sexual or emotional health is collected only with your consent, given in a separate checkbox when you create your account, and used only to provide the feature you requested. We do not sell it. See our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
Other states
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws have similar rights: access, correction, deletion, portability and opting out of sale, targeted advertising and profiling (we do none of these). We process sensitive data with your consent. You may appeal a denied request as described in section 13.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version and date are at the top. We will notify you in the app before material changes take effect and, where required, ask for your consent again.
